What is HorrorMC?
HorrorMC is a Horror Minecraft server: a Vanilla survival multiplayer (SMP) world for Java Edition that plays like normal Minecraft, with a haunting layer on top.
You mine, build and explore as usual. But strange sounds, shapes at the edge of your vision and things that should not move will make you doubt the world around you.
Which Minecraft version does it run?
Minecraft Java Edition 26.3, running on Paper. Bedrock Edition is not supported, and you need the matching Java version to join.

How do I join this Horror Minecraft server?
- Join the Discord and post your Minecraft username in #apply-for-whitelist.
- Once you are approved, start Minecraft Java Edition 26.3.
- Open Multiplayer, choose Add Server and enter play.horrormc.com.
- Hop on, and do not stay out too late.
What is on the Discord?
The Discord is where you apply for the whitelist, meet the other players, share builds and stories, and ask questions.
Use the Discord button at the top of this page to join, read the rules, then post your Minecraft Java username in #apply-for-whitelist. A moderator will whitelist you and give you the Survivor role, which unlocks the rest of the Discord.
What are the server rules?
- Be respectful to every player.
- No griefing, stealing or killing players without their consent.
- No cheating: no hacked clients, x-ray or exploits.
- Claim your builds and respect other players' claims.
- Do not spoil the scares for new players.
- One account per person, and follow staff instructions.
How scary is this Horror Minecraft server?
It is slow, psychological horror rather than a wall of jump scares. What happens depends on what you are doing: mining alone in a tunnel feels different from building at home or exploring at night.
Scares never hurt you, never take your items and never damage your builds. They only make you wish you had stayed home.
Do I need mods or a resource pack?
No. HorrorMC works with the normal Vanilla Java Edition client. There is nothing to download, which is exactly why it feels like a normal Minecraft server until it does not.
Can I turn the scares off, or get more?
Yes. Type /dontscareme or /dread off to opt out of all scares, and /dread on to come back. Want more, more often? Try /dread brave.
How is it different from Horror Minecraft maps and mods?
Most Horror Minecraft experiences are adventure maps or heavy modpacks with a fixed story that you finish once. HorrorMC is a living survival server: Vanilla gameplay with scares that adapt to every player, in a shared world you can build in and explore with friends.
